Eucharistic Visitors

Eucharistic Visitors are licensed by the bishop to take the consecrated elements from a church service to parishioners who are sick or shut-in. In order to be licensed, one must complete a program of instruction offered twice each year at the Diocesan Training Day. Eucharistic Visitors are under the supervision of the rector.

Lectors/Eucharistic Ministers

Lectors serve the congregation in services by reading the scripture lessons and leading the Prayers of the People. Lectors are licensed by the bishop to serve the chalice at Holy Communion. They are trained by the rector and follow the customs of the parish.  Persons who serve as lectors or would like to should check the lectors' web page.

Nursery

During our Sunday Services (except the one at 7:45 a.m.) and during many major programs and services at St. John's, a nursery is provided.  The nursery is supervised by a paid staff person who is assisted by one or more couples.  Persons who serve or would like to in the nursery, should check the nursery's web page.

Ushers

All adult men and women are encouraged to serve as ushers during worship services. Volunteers are added to a rotating list provided by the Men of St. John’s. Schedules and reminders are mailed to those scheduled to serve.  Persons who serve or wish to serve as ushers should check the ushers' web page.

Wedding Committee

The wedding committee assists the rector and the bride during the wedding rehearsal and ceremony. The members of this committee, known as Wedding Assistants, are trained in the parish’s wedding traditions and insure a smooth and memorable ceremony.
