Acolytes

The Acolyte program provides an opportunity for the youth of our parish to serve the church by assisting the clergy in the services conducted on Sundays and special Holy Days, such as Christmas, Ash Wednesday, and Maundy Thursday. Girls and boys may begin serving as acolytes after the sixth grade. Their duties begin with simple functions and become more complex as they gain experience and confidence. Training is provided on a group basis at least three times per year and on an individual basis as needed and as schedules permit.

Altar Flower Memorials

The flowers that grace the altar are donated weekly as memorials or honorariums. The Altar flowers are an important contribution to the Sunday service and donors are encouraged.  If you would like to make a donation for the altar flowers in memory or honor of someone, you may do so on-line or by mail.

Monthly coordination is required to make sure altar flowers are donated for each Sunday, donor information for the bulletin is gathered, the donation for the flowers is collected, and donors are thanked.  The Altar Flower Memorials Committee handles this.  Contact our parish receptionist, if you would like to join this committee.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is responsible for handling all altar preparations for church services. These responsibilities include the cleaning and care of brass and silver and the laundering of linens. The work of the Altar Guild is divided among five groups; each group is responsible for one week of services per month. The primary duties of the guild are performed on Saturday morning and following the last Sunday service. Training is provided to new members.

Guild of The Flowering Cross

This is an opportunity to work with one of God’s most delightful gifts to us – flowers. The guild can be a way for you to offer spiritual service and floral beautification of our high altar. Women and men of all ages can participate.  We also decorate the church for major holy days.  See pictures of our work at Christmas
