Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
On the last night before Lent, a season of penitence leading to Easter,
St. John's celebrates Shrove Tuesday with a pancake supper.
The Men of St. John's cook and serve pancakes and sausage to the parish.
See pictures of our feast.
Kanuga Weekend
Each February, the annual parish weekend is held at the Kanuga
Conference Center in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The Kanuga Weekend
Committee plans all programs and entertainment for the weekend. All ages,
families and singles alike attend the weekend. Scholarships are available.
Pentecost Luncheon
Pentecost is the "birthday of the Church." On this day, the
Holy Spirit inspired the apostles and tongues of fire rested on each.
To celebrate Pentecost, St. John's enjoys a luncheon or picnic. Often
we recognize those who have served in different ministries and programs
throughout the year, such as Sunday school teachers, choirs, basketball
coaches and players, scouts, and acolytes. See photos of a past
Pentecost.
Gravatt
Day
The annual parish picnic is held on a Sunday in May at the Bishop
Gravatt Center near Aiken. The parish gathers for a service by the
lake and shares a picnic lunch. Games for all ages are offered, and the
children love swimming in the lake! See photos.
Women's Retreat
The
St. John's Women's Retreat is held annually in late spring, usually March,
at the Bishop Gravatt Center located near Aiken, South Carolina. Women
in today's world are busier than ever. Every woman, ages 21 to 101,
is invited and encouraged to take a weekend away from it all to grow in
the love of Christ by learning from and studying with other women.
Relationships are developed and strengthened in this very special weekend
together. You don't want to miss it. See pictures of our last Retreat.
