AdministrationClergy · Staff · Communications · Office Volunteers Giving to St. John'sTithing is a way for all Christians to be equal, making each a partner in God’s work. Tithing is an act of obedience, the development of which satisfies the need of human beings to give to His work. St. John’s regularly offers a course in personal financial management. The course, developed by Crown Ministries, teaches persons how to handle their money according to Biblical principles. Read more about the Crown Ministries course in the Christian Education section. All contributions, unless otherwise designated, go to the operating budget of the parish. This budget is based on the pledges made during the fall stewardship campaign. Contributions to the operating budget are made through anonymous cash plate offerings and individual pledge offerings through check or cash. Gifts of stock have an added tax benefit since the contribution is deductible at the current market value, without regard for its cost basis. There are different funds to which a donor may designate his or her gift. The Stewardship Campaign is coordinated by the Stewarship Committee and the Vestry's Liaison to the Stewardship Committee. Funds at St. John'sMemorial Fund - Gifts given in memory of church members and friends to provide items not generally included in the budget. Building Fund - Gifts to provide for principal improvements to the properties of the parish. Equipping the Saints - This capital campaign was established to provide funding for the renovations and subsequent mortgage on Heyward Hall. Long planned additions to the sanctuary are hoped to be completed by the anniversary of the church in 2012. United Thank Offering (UTO) - Giving thanks with a prayer and a coin creates generous hearts. "If you have a happy day, had good news, prayed and been heard, recovered from an illness and learned anything about God, then your thanksgiving will heal a sick child, reconstruct schools and churches, supply equipment, care for the old and sick missionaries and help carry out the Gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth." Throughout the year the UTO blue boxes will be placed in the Narthex of St. John's. Library Fund - Gifts to provide resources in the library for spiritual growth. Organ Fund - Gifts to provide for major improvements of our pipe organ. Altar Flowers - Donation for altar flowers can be given in memory or in honor of oved ones and are announced in the weekly bulletin. Donations can now be made online.
